The last month when I was on a business tour, I came to know about the dissimilar types of machines. Even though there are numerous types of expeller machines, but the oil expeller machines are normally used to extract the oil from the oilseeds such as rapeseed, palm kernel, sunflower seeds, castor seeds, linseed, jatropha, cottonseed, groundnut, copra (coconut), mustard, seasame seed, soya bean, cocoa bean, cashew nut shell, sheanut, macadamia nuts, corn germ and other oil bearing seeds/nuts.

This machine consist a pressing chamber to which the seeds are fed from one side of the press. The expeller machines use pressure and friction from the screw drives to move as well as to compress the oil seeds. The oil that is extracted comes out from very small openings. When I asked about the reason; it was informed that in order to prevent any sort of residue entering the extracted oil, the oil opening was small. This waste or solid residue of the seeds exists from the other end of the machine. This residue that is leftover is known as the oil cakes.

There are mainly two types of oil expeller machines – full press expeller machine and pre press expeller machine. While the full press expeller machines are used by small and medium oil mills, the pre press expeller machines are used by large oil extraction companies. There are many advantages of employing these advanced expeller machines such as optimum oil yield at low operating cost, low power use, and ability to crush all types of edible and non edible oil seeds.
